Having enjoyed a varied engineering and business background, I have discovered that strategic procurement carried out efficiently – and with style- is the single biggest driver to enable transformational change and provide financial headroom by connecting and optimising the supply chain This means elevating the procurement teams above transactional purchasing and including contract and supplier management, make or buy decisions and sourcing routes as well as keeping in touch with market intelligence and supply chain issues and acting accordingly. There are many types of arrangement from transactional through service to outsource and all of them have their own strengths and issues. If they are managed intelligently they will deliver. If not then they will eventually fail. After working in strategic procurement for the last 16 years and enjoyed every minute of it, I am determined to help others to gain the benefits of excellent procurement, either directly or by advice, consultancy and support.
